For instance, the contrast ratio reaches the top at 200,000:1 which is very high for an LCD model and great pick for those that cannot afford the LED displays. The response time is also lower at 2ms while the number of ports remains the same because 4 HDMI ports should be enough to set up a fully functional home theater system.

Technologies

Many mid-range TVs are already boasting 120Hz technologies that are meant to eliminate blur by doubling the frame rate. The LG 47LD650 goes even further by bumping this up to 240Hz while still bearing the TruMotion name. This virtually eliminates every instance of blur and makes sure even the quickest scenes are reproduced in crystal clarity.

The AV Mode technology also brings convenience to the user experience by offering three special presets for watching movies, watching sports, and playing video games. Every preset not only contains optimal picture and color settings, but also audio settings. To make it even more convenient, the LG 47LD650 is ISFccc Calibration Ready so beginners and professionals can easily switch presets from the remote. The Picture Wizard also opens up some simple ways to make quick adjustments to the picture.

The LG 47LD650 also supports Dolby Digital decoding so it can take full advantage of any Blu-ray or DVD titles that have the Dolby Digital logo. People that hook up 5.1-channel systems will notice the benefits because they can experience content the exact way that directors intended. The Infinite Sound and Clear Voice II technologies enhance the bass and vocals respectively for an even improved audio experience.

The LG 47LD650 is also a power saver featuring the Intelligent Sensor that cleverly decreases the lighting if there is enough ambient light. The colors are also adjusted accordingly depending on the lighting condition to reduce eye strain. Along with the other Smart Energy Saving Features and fact that the stereo speakers just consume 20 watts, the LG 47LD650 can actually save some money.

Extra Features

The LG 47LD650 adds some depth with the NetCast Entertainment Access feature which allows a direct connection to the Internet. Users can use their own Internet connection to connect to on-demand movie services including Vudu and Netflix. Since these services provide Full HD content, the LG 47LD650 serves as a nice digital movie companion. The connection can also be used to access free content from sites like YouTube and Picasa as well as get free news updates from Yahoo! TV Widgets.

The Wireless 1080p Connectivity feature can wirelessly transmit HD content to special devices that support this feature such as the latest laptops. This feature requires a wireless media kit which is sold separately.

Those that do not prefer this feature can still play back any high-definition content in the DivX format via USB. There are two USB ports available allowing multiple storage devices or portable gadgets to be plugged in at the same time.

Bottom Line

The LG 47LD650 is a bit pricey averaging about $1,300 and the features really cater to those that want the best image quality possible without spending too much money on the newer LED or 3-D TVs.
