LG 47LH90
In every product lineup of HDTVs there is always a few models that stand out from the rest of the family. For an HDTV to take the spotlight, it must feature top quality specifications in both audio and visuals. The technologies also have to be the latest because there are lots of HDTV displays that are setting new boundaries and delivering better quality that redefines home theaters. LG successfully does this with the LG 47LH90 model. For a TV less than 50” and a great set of features, this is one powerful television display.

Technical Features
The Full HD 1080p resolution specification is already common for most of the LG models so it is expected for the LH90 to share this specification, but the real dealbreaker is the fact that the LG 47LH90 isn’t even an LCD TV, but rather an LED TV. LG may not be the first to launch an LED TV, but the technology is still quite new and in the LG 47LH90, it manages to have a Mega Contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1.
LG HDTVs had problems with black levels, but this particular model solves them all by delivering a contrast up to 40 times greater and at the same time keeps the power consumption low which made the older models great. The Intelligent Sensor is also present making the picture absolutely perfect regardless of the lighting conditions of the room. As a result, the LG 47H90 gets the THX display certification which clearly shows that it is one of the best displays out there for home theaters.
Actual user review:
“Wonderful set. Picture is stunning with 1080 and 720 sources and looks good even with standard def. Set-up was straight forward. There is a picture wizard that gets you reasonable initial picture settings. Black levels are truly black, and depending on your brightness setting, you can make an all-black screen look like the TV is off. Colors appear to be accurate. The sweet-spot is quite wide, but once beyond 45 degrees or so off center, the blacks and colors fade a small amount. This being said, the picture is still quite good as you approach 70-80 degrees off center, and unless you are a true videophile, you won’t really notice that much. The matte screen was a selling point for me as we have a large window across from the TV and it doesn’t pose any viewing problems even with the sun shining right on the TV.” – KJN (USA)
Technologies
The 47H90 doesn’t back down in technologies either with the TruMotion 240Hz to nicely complement the amazing picture quality. This means that the colors are vividly displayed and the motions remain fluid while playing intense video games or watching action-packed movies.
The same ease of use applies to the 47LH90 as well with the Picture Wizard saving you time and energy in calibrating the TV for that perfect picture. Self-calibration can easily be achieved through a friendly wizard that guides non-experienced users.
The excellent audio quality is also one of the reasons why it has the THX certification because the Clear Voice II technology makes vocal scenes a lot clearer without ruining the other elements. Another thing to notice is that the speakers cannot be seen because the Invisible Speaker System is used making it impossible to find out exactly where the sound is coming from.
Extra Features
Like the rest of the LG displays, AV Mode is included which is basically three different presets containing visual and audio settings to suit movies, sports programs, and video games. All of these can be accessed with just a single click of the remote.
The LG 47LH90 really looks great and there is a lot of power under the hood too. It doesn’t perform as well off-angle and the price tag is rather high, but the superior performance in every other aspect makes this a TV that should greatly serve as a fine centerpiece in any living room.
