Panasonic TC-P54V10
As people are embracing the wonderful features of high-definition technology, some individuals want to have larger TVs to get a better feel of the 1080p experience whether they are watching their favorite TV programs, playing their favorite games, or watching their favorite movies. It doesn’t only take just a large display to get that job done. The TV must be outfitted with the latest technology to keep the colors vivid and the quality sharp without consuming much electricity. The viewing angle should also be good to open up different setup possibilities. A plasma display like the Panasonic TC-P54V10 is a possible solution that may be expensive, but has some very nice features and extras as well.

Design
The Panasonic TC-P54V10 is a sleek piece of equipment which features a special one-sheet design that utilizes a single pane of glass that expands over the bezel as well. The noticeable thing is that larger models of this series use the traditional style so this is a good model to get for style and elegance as long as the 54″ screen size is enough.
Image Quality
Black levels are amazing with the Panasonic TC-P54V10 because it surpasses the 2,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and it is backed with several breakthrough technologies like the NeoPDP technology on the design aspect and the Real Black Drive system on the engine side. These technologies work together to portray movies on their best quality possible exceeding HDTV color standards. These technologies also make the TC-P54V10 THX certified which means that the latest movies are sure to bring a home theater experience. This experience can be enjoyed from any viewing angle since it is a plasma display. Through the use of an AR filter, this can be done without any glare or loss in color.
Motion quality is also good thanks to the 600 Hz sub-field drive that contributes significantly in eliminating blur. The 24p cinematic playback applies to movie titles too by noticeably eliminating flickering and aftereffects. When playing video games, image quality can be boosted even further using the special “Game Mode“.
Actual user review:
“I finally convinced my fiancee that we needed to upgrade her old 27 inch CRT in our living room to a new HDTV and after researching for a few months, I came to the conclusion that this was the TV I wanted to replace it with. I have absolutely no regrets on this purchase. The picture is stunning out of the box when hooked up to our DirecTV HD receiver. I haven’t even had to change any of the default settings to adjust the picture settings. I have yet to run a blu-ray movie through it, but my PS3 is hooked up and playing some LittleBigPlanet on it looks twice as nice as playing on my old Sony 52 inch 1080i rear projection set. Sound through the built in speakers is fine, but with a TV like this, you’ll be doing yourself a disservice to not get a set of 5.1 or 7.1 speakers and receiver to fully enjoy your HD. The Viera Cast is a nice little bonus, although watching YouTube videos on such a big screen is really muddy looking. I hope they add in NetFlix streaming to go along with their Amazon rental service built in already. Standard definition tv watching isn’t bad at all once you get use to the filtering/upconverting that the set does. I do wish their was at least one more HDMI and one more component input on the back to hold all my gaming systems and various other accessories I would like to hook up to this TV, but that’s the only knock I have against this fantastic TV. I can’t wait for football season to start!” – C.Abrahamson (USA)
Sound Quality
Sound quality also gets a nod because of the High Definition 3D technology known as the BBE ViVA that is implemented in the thin display. It applies 3D enhancements like other 3D technologies, but does it in an evenly distributed way that carries clarity, accuracy, and presence no matter where viewers are watching from. The range is also much greater than traditional stereo sound effects. The THX certification also applies to its exceptional sound quality.
Connectivity
The Panasonic TC-P54V10 has plenty of ports on the back and side including an Ethernet port making it possible for the TV to access special content on the web through a widgets system called VIERA CAST. This is a web interface that can be easily accessed from the remote control and makes use of panels that show useful information like the weather or current stock information. Other sites can be viewed to access multimedia and image content like YouTube, Picasa, and Amazon Video on Demand. It is also possible to purchase videos from Amazon along with the option to preview them before buying.
It also has three HDMI ports on the back and another HDMI port on the side making it possible to connect other Blu-ray devices, gaming consoles, and other new HDMI equipment. Plugging in Panasonic branded equipment is advantageous in making use of the VIERA LINK feature which lets the remote control interact with all of the devices. It has been updated to support new Lumix digital cameras and network cameras as well.
The SD card slot opens up more connectivity options for reading camera images or playing back recorded AVCHD formatted video clips. It can read the high-capacity SDHC cards and even has a built-in VIERA image viewer for viewing the contents in a neat slide show with 4 available display effects and 3 background music presets to choose from.
The best thing about the Panasonic TC-P54V10 is the black levels while its weakness is the lack in picture control customization. No need to worry about that because the quality exceeds beyond other models in brightness and color quality. The extra Internet and connectivity features make it even better even though the price tag is a bit high for a 54-inch model.

- “I ordered this Panasonic TC54 G10 and it arrived 4 days ahead of schedule. The delivery service from Amazon was excellent. I arrived home to find the TV sitting on my stand, hooked-up to my components and ready to provide a substantial upgrade over my 720P 42 inch set from Samsung. I bought the Samsung 2 years ago and was quite happy with it but was drawn to the 54 inch panel and the 1080P resolution. Truth be told, I felt a little guilty about making this particular purchase. Until I turned on the new set. The size of the razor-sharp image was a jaw-dropping delight. This set has an immersive quality that must be seen to be appreciated. The screen seems to be about twice the size of the 42 inch panel. The jump to 1080P was a second huge improvement as I watch Blu-Ray and sports. Other users have commented on the sound being less than great. It might be but I don’t know because I have the Panasonic connected to a high quality 5:1 surround sound set-up in my man cave. A TV of this dimension absolutely demands this. The color adjustment from the remote takes a little tweaking but there are multiple pre-sets. The deal on set from Amazon included an effectively free Panasonic Blu-Ray player. At $1544 for both with free delivery I could not justify not taking the bait. This set also was universally well-reviewed including a best buy selection from Consumer Reports. A great plasma that delivers a very satisfying shot of digital satisfaction. For now, this set offers a sweet-spot in the cost/benefit continuum. My buyer’s guilt is gone.” – J.W.Kite (USA)
- “I already own a 50″ Plasma and 32″ LCD TV. I was pretty much set to buy another LCD TV since more and more stores carry LCD than Plasma. I also looked into LED TVs but after doing a lot of research, I gave up on LCD or LED and decided to get Plasma. Since Pioneer is out and Panasonic is leader in Plasmas, I decided to go with Panasonic. Panasonic has a lot of models to choose from and it gets harder to choose. I wanted to get V10 but bought G10 because basically both offer the same features except for a few. The most noticeable feature in V10 is 96HZ refresh rate which is nice but I couldn’t justify the price difference. The 60HZ refresh rate in G10 is more than suffice and picture quality is stunning. I keep my picture mode to standard but THX in total dark room is awesome and movie theater like. The feature to connect to internet is very convenient. I had doubts when I ordered a HD movie from Amazon, but I was pleasantly surprise by the outstanding picture quality. I only wish if they can have Netflix. I went to many different stores and looked many TVs but this TV is amazing especially for the price unless you can afford Z1. I’m not sure why someone would want to buy a LCD TV even with the refresh rate of 120HZ or 240HZ, LCD cannot compete with the warmth and natural looking picture quality of plasma. Everyone I know bought LCD and I’m just glad that I bought Panasonic P54G10 Plasma.” – T.Aman (NJ,USA)
