Panasonic TC-P54VT25
Bringing the 3D experience to home base takes a lot of adjusting even for those that already have an adequate home theater system set up. Any old display whether it is an ordinary LCD display or an HDTV must be replaced with a display that actually sports 3D technologies. In addition, a special pair of 3D glasses need to be purchased as well and they often need to be purchased separately. 3D content must be provided as well and so far, network companies are still working on delivering 3D content to the mainstream so the primary source for the meantime are the 3D Blu-ray discs and they must be played in special Blu-ray players that actually support 3D. However, the most important component is still the TV because it is in charge of the performance in both 2D and 3D ends. Those that want the largest plasma 3D HDTV may find the Panasonic TC-P54VT25 to be a worthy choice.

Features
The largest 3D HDTV in the lower-end GT25 series measures 50-inches diagonally measures 4 inches longer diagonally and has the top features enabled. It also has the most HDMI ports so users can freely plug in a 3D Blu-ray player along with a universal media player or gaming console. With 4 inputs available and 2 component inputs, there should be plenty of room for all sorts of equipment and portable devices.
“Had a Sony Bravia top rated LCD TV and this Plasma blows it away. The colors are so vibrant, blurring effect found on fast action sports is gone. Highly recommended!” – J.Sagan (USA)
Technologies
Another difference between the TC-P54VT25 and the other GT25 VIERA models is the type of display it uses. Although it boasts the same 5,000,000:1 native contrast ratio, the Infinite Black Pro yields even better quality than the original infinite Black display. It is superior in the sense of adapting the contrast and brightness levels so that they look good in any viewing area. At the same time, just about every fine piece of detail is reproduced even in the darkest scenes so it is okay to watch up close.
While this display technology affects the overall image quality, the Frame Sequential Technology is a 3D specific technology that allows Full HD images to be sent to each eye alternately at a quick 60 frames per second so the 3D effects are experienced constantly. 3D visuals require a lot of light so the 3D Display Optimization increases the intensity and preventing afterimages by decreasing the luminescence.
All of the plasma displays offer the standard stereo sound but the TC-P54VT25 has 3 speakers instead so they can be used even if a home theater system is not connected. The woofer and pair of full-range drivers provide a much better sound output complete with BBE’s ViVA sound widening technology which is nice for a big screen like this since it will be placed in a large room. This adds audio depth to the 3D experience and can improve the way gamers get into the game as well. Satellite speakers are finally optional with this addition.
Extra Features
When the 3D features need some rest, users can connect to the Internet straight from the TC-P54VT25 using VIERA Cast as long as it is connected to the router via Ethernet. An optional wireless LAN adaptor can be purchased separately so the process is easier but it will take up a USB port. Fortunately, there is another USB port that allows a USB keyboard, TY-CC10 camera, or flash drive to be plugged in. The first two devices enhance the VIERA Cast usability where the keyboard makes it easier to input data while the communication camera allows audio and video conferencing through the Skype application. Attaching a keyboard comes in handy when surfing sites like Picasa Web Albums or Twitter. It is also possible to stream audio and video from services including Netflix, YouTube, and Pandora Internet Radio.
Digital camera users do not even need to transfer the photos to a PC or plug in a USB cable since the TC-P54VT25 has an SD card slot which can read JPEG, MP3, MPEG2, and AVCHD files stored in standard SD cards.
Bottom Line
Expect to pay not more than $3,000 for the Panasonic TC-P54VT25 but it offers a gorgeous display and 3D movie titles look great. It is also a THX-certified display making it an ideal system to have to power any home theater system. LED 3D TVs even cost more and the quality is nearly as good.
Actual User Reviews:
• “Before I make any large purchase I make sure to try and do my homework. I had an 8 year old panasonic lcd projection TV that worked fine but it was time for an upgrade. After looking at CNET, Consumer Reports, avs forums and others there was a consensus that this TV was the best TV of 2010. This TV has the best 3D and among the best 2D with some of the best black levels this side of the Pioneer Kuros series. After bringing it home and setting it up I am blown away. The 3D picture is fantastic to a point while watching Avatar with my son he said “Is this real!” The 2D picture is also spectacular with excellent black levels. I set this TV up with my PS3, xbox 360, and Wii and they all look fantastic. 3d gaming on the PS3 is an immersive experience. Overall, the only thing is that it is not as thin or flashy as the LED’s but they can’t touch the picture quality this TV gets. Great product!” – Harshalexander (USA)
• “This TV has a perfect/amazing picture. I’ve owned it now for 3 weeks and have seen zero noticeable defects. Judder, ghosting etc.. Watched some content in 3d and I’m hooked. Basketball, football, Xbox Black Ops, and Avatar has been it so far. (lack of cheap 3d content out there, had to upgrade to new cable box (no cost) for the 3d channels) The movie and sporting events were amazing and makes watching in 2d lame. I didn’t care for the 1st person shooter in 3d though. 2d gaming is perfect with no delay. I am perfectly satisfied that I purchased the right technology, Plasma. Can’t wait for Netflix to start renting out 3d Blue-Ray movies!” – A.S.Lamott (USA)
• “We have had this television for 2 months and it is marvelous. Picture detail is the best I’ve seen even on LED sets. Although 3D content is limited at present what is available is entertaining to see. The VT25 is well worth the price.” – R.C.Thurling (NY,USA)
