Panasonic TC-P42G10
It can be pretty difficult to find a TV that is less than 50 inches or even 46 inches that has plenty of advanced features and technologies to offer, but now the Panasonic TC-P42G10 is making it a reality. The reason why TVs with all the flashy features are so expensive is because the value of the features is combined with the size of the screen and normally the screens are big. Not everyone needs a large TV and some people may be looking for a TV that has a little bit of extra.
This is where the G10 series of plasma high definition TVs come in and the Panasonic TC-P42G10 turns out to be one of the more affordable ones comfortably priced under $1,500. Here are some of the main highlights as to why this is such a great TV to get if you are looking for a nice 42” display.

Technical Features
The Panasonic TC-P42G10 delivers the full packages with a beautiful 1080p HDTV resolution that doesn’t consume as much power as many of the older 1080p models so you are sure to save money if you use the TV every day. Quality isn’t sacrificed at all with a nice sleek design giving cinema-quality visuals to which is ideal for watching really good movies at home. Whether it is intense sports or extreme gaming, the Panasonic TC-P42G10 doesn’t disappoint at all.
Deep blacks and clean whites are another major plus because of its 40,000:1 contrast ratio. The THX mode overcomes the limitations of non-G10 models by greatly improving the accuracy of primary colors and grayscale along with the same solid color saturation that other Panasonic TVs have achieved.
Actual user review:
“I ordered this TV for my new townhouse to be mounted over my living room fireplace. Due to the size of the cutout, I couldn’t go any bigger than 42″. Needless to say this TV does not disappoint! I have a 50″ Samsung 1080p LCD in the basement that I paid almost twice as much for, and this TV blows it away. The quality of the picture and the black levels are unbelieveable. There is a little bit of a green hue to the factory settings, but are easily adjusted. The THX picture setting is amazing, but I only recommend it for dimly lit to dark rooms. The other settings for lighter rooms will still wow you. The PS3 games and Blu-ray movies are jaw dropping.” – K.Hartman (USA)
Technologies
All of these wonderful features mentioned in the technical features are part of a single technology that makes it possible and that is the Neo PDP technology. The Neo PDP technology covers all the good areas from sharp quality to remarkable brightness. The best thing about this technology is the ability to deliver all these features while consuming power lower to many plasma HDTVs that were released before the Panasonic TC-P42G10.
There are other Panasonic series that have the Neo PDP technology, but more value is added to the Panasonic TC-P42G10 with the THX certification for Faithful Movie Image Reproduction. This is a high set of standards made by the Lucasfilm TXT Certified Display Program. This is why you can really expect your favorite DVD or Blu-ray movie titles to be comparable to cinema quality.
The VIERA CAST technology is also included so you can interact with popular online services on the Internet without a PC. This includes weather forecast updates and YouTube, Amazon, Bloomberg and Picasa integration. The VIERA Image Viewer adds to the flexibility by allowing people to see digital photos and high definition camcorder videos on the large display just by inserting an SD memory card.
Extra Features
Gamers can also get a real kick out of this TV by turning on the “Game Mode” option so they can easily play with the best possible settings. The 3 HDMI inputs give more options as well.
The Panasonic TC-P42G10 is basically a real powerhouse in features, but very light in power consumption. The TV is also smaller than the other bigger plasmas making this a great buy.
- “Have had this TV for almost 2 months. Shipped promptly from Amazon – best price on the web. Excellent picture, color, clarity and no motion blur! I’m somewhat of a “techie” and did a significant amount of research on TV’s – LCD vs. Plasma. Bottom line: Plasma has better blacks, better off angle viewing, less motion blur for fast moving scenes and far better value than LCD. I was convinced LCD was better until I did the research, did some comparison viewing, and looked at the costs. I’ve also been a SONY fan for many years (CRT’s, walkmans, headphones, CD players, etc) but am very impressed with Panasonic’s product here.” – B.Barry (MA,USA)
- “I’m the kind of guy who does a lot of research before he buys anything, and a new TV is no exception. I looked at plasma and LCD, different manufacturers including LG, Samsung and Sony, as well as different retailers. Even though the buzz is that plasma is a dying technology, there is nothing to indicate that in this TV. Anyway, I did the research and this model was a good fit for me. The picture is great, very sharp and clear with DirecTV HD service. I haven’t noticed any blurring or other image quality problems. I also use the TV for an Xbox 360, and the picture quality again is amazing.” – J.Boulger (IL,USA)
