Samsung LN46B650
When you are BIG in top of the line LCD televisions, you may perhaps put Samsung LN46B650 on your list. This version of Samsung 1080p HDTV is equipped with an advanced technology to deliver the sharpest details and vivid color in outstanding compliance to NTSC standards. Its innovative features include reduced motion blur and image judder, which plagued conventional LCD TV models. Its excellent Energy Star rating assures energy efficiency. Samsung’s LN46B650 is a competitive HDTV model which its competition should look out for.
Samsung HDTVs are all about crisp, lifelike and overall high-quality pictures. For the B650 model, Samsung has it equipped with Full HD 1080p resolution feature that performs 1.5 more scanning lines than those found in conventional HDTV models. By scanning we mean the ability to display more detailed and better quality pictures. Its 1080p panel uses a high speed liquid crystal display to cut response time for up to 6ms.
The high-grade 1920×1080 pixel resolution, found present in LN46B650 is complemented with a built-in image scaler and digital tuner to eliminate the need for an external box. It has got Auto Motion Plus technology which doubles its frame rate from 60 to 120 frames per second. This technology is responsible in advancing image processing time to reduce blurring and judder for fast-paced motions and actions as well as to better handle inputs from both analog and digital audio and video sources. It also promotes a more fluid transition from one frame to another. The result is certainly obvious to the eye of an HDTV critic, crisp image details, more natural skin tones and great shadow details.
Actual user review:
“My first HDTV. Very nice specs and decent price. Samsung LCD HDTVs look significantly better than most brands in my opinion. I like that it can play AVI files from a USB. Black levels look good. Works great for games (XBox 360) – I didn’t notice any blur (thanks to 120Hz). The “dynamic” contrast ratio makes the colors look fantastic, but it is dynamic so the colors change about once every half second. It’s rarely noticeable – for instance, a mostly deep-black background with bright foreground objects that gradually grow dimmer or brighter – you’ll notice the black background step-up and step-down in brightness every half second. Some video may look better in “Standard”, like some TV shows and anime, although the specs do not state what the contrast ratio is for the non-dynamic color settings. “ – L.M.Claire (USA)
HDTV color standards are something that the NTSC must know about. While only 72% of its standard is being met by conventional LCD TV competition, Samsung boasts a 92% compliance to NTSC standard. This has been made possible; thanks to its Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp backlights, which is behind the B650 series’ capacity to deliver truer, seamless and more vivid colors from frame to frame.
To give you up to the minute updates to weather and news reports as well as stock information, we are glad to say Samsung LN46B650 is only a click away to accessing your InfoLink RSS service. With an all-new interface and digital content management guide, users can easily learn how to integrate B650’s Ethernet ports to the Web. This intuitive navigation and access systems apply to both internal and external content.
Now, we come to the deciding part. Most people may not be that sensitive to the gradual changes in the picture display technology of HDTVs. However, they are more into the connectivity part of each model’s design. For the Samsung LN46B650, connectivity is no problem as it can accommodate a variety of multimedia devices. It is made DLNA compatible, which means it is not so sensitive about the manufacturers of the external devices it accommodates. It carries a content library through a 2 GB Flash Memory which can store your photo art, games, workout routine, recipes and other interesting digital content. Its Anynet+ feature allows you to control its peripheral devices with a single remote console. It has two USB port, an Ethernet port, a RS232C and a digital audio output port. In short, its HDMI interface is one of the best in the industry.
- “I found this set for my 82 year old mother. From ordering to setup to teaching her how to use it to the beauty of the set and the clarity of the picture and crispness of the sound, she is tremendously pleased. We were looking at the ‘A’ series at first; but, once I reviewed the ‘B’ series and got a look at the vast differences for about $250 more, there was no doubt that we would go with B. There are a lot more bells and whistles that she will never use (internet use; lots of built in computer programs to access, like organizing your finances), but I will! Samsung stays the leader in HDTV!” – P.Satini (St.Louis, USA)
- “I bought this puppy 4 weeks ago. When I watch blue ray DVDs, the experience feels better than in the theater. Sometimes, even the imperfections in the make up of artists are visible in these movies; and I am talking about Dark Knight and Bond films. Blacks, colors, contrast, etc. name the specs and this is there at the top. And the tinge of red makes it more attractive than the previous versions. Unless Sony manages to come up with a new series, this is the best one in town.” – S.Varri (OR,USA)
