Samsung LN52A750
The Samsung LN52A750 is part of the Samsung touch of color 52″ high definition LCD series. This set features a dark red tone, which blends into the standard black of the case to add a new level to HD Television. The LN52A750 comes with pre-loaded content, instant access to news, weather, and stock information even sports and comes with an RSS feature to allow up to date information to be accessed without interrupting programming.
Image Quality
Watching movies in older resolutions poses as one of the problems of modern TVs as they are unable to fully optimize the picture for viewing. With Auto motion Plus 120Hz display, this new range of HDTVs remove the blur from high action shots so movement appears clearer than ever. The chip that the LN52A750 uses does a tremendous job in upconverting both 480i and 480p inputs into noiseless visuals with natural colors. There is a bit of motion blur and jerkiness present in scenes where a lot of fast motion and panning is involved, but the overall presentation looks refreshing compared to other displays.
For HD content, the 120hz Auto Motion Plus isn’t perfect and should be turned off to avoid unintended material from showing up in film sources. However, this feature is incredible if used for sports programs so people may find themselves turning it on and off in several occasions. On the upside, Samsung does an excellent job in processing black levels and the color accuracy is pretty good overall.
Audio Quality
Results from the Dolby Digital Test disc indicate that the audio output was superb and the quality was noticeable even at a volume level of just 35%. The Virtual Surround sound effects were equally impressive. Because this is a 750 series model, there is also an integrated woofer design that boasts enhanced audio technology.
Actual user review:
“My household revolves around the TV, we love movies and gaming is a big part of our family time.A purchase of this size involved a whole lot of planning. I looked and waited for exactly what I wanted. Contrast ratio, screen size, and versitility were very important.I waited for the LN52A750 model and am so glad I was patient. I got a great price ($900 dollars less than the local retailer), all of our gaming systems plus our DVD player all run on this set without unplugging and replugging cables. Our family room isn’t large 14X20 so we worried that the set would be too big. No way, it’s like having our own private theater. If you are thinking about another brand don’t waste any more of your time, this TV is amazing and worth every penny.” – K.Read (Iowa, USA)
Style
The “Touch of Color” style goes along with the Samsung LN52A750 and it doesn’t fail to impress. The hint of red that can be seen blending with the piano black finish gives the LCD TV some added uniqueness and should stand out in any home entertainment setup. The plexi overscreen coat may be marked as a bit cheap to some, but at first glance, the Samsung LN52A750 simply looks gorgeous.
Other Features
The connectivity is quite adequate with 3 HDMI ports, 2 components, and the old 15 pin port for computers. It also has a USB 2.0 port which offers support for MPEG and JPEG formats which is nice along with the other common formats that are supported by other displays. This feature basically makes the Samsung LN52A750 a media hub since plenty of different digital devices can be plugged into it and the data can be used by the TV itself.
Cost
With a slew of nice features and style, the LN52A750’s price is pretty good value for money. It isn’t however the cheapest 52 inch display, but plenty of the advantages including better black levels and great viewing angles makes this TV worth the little extra bucks.
Overall
The Samsung LN52A750 is a great LCD display and excels in both sound and picture. It does have the same motion lags as most other LCD screens, but all the other factors make this TV an excellent choice for consumers looking for a larger display.
With all these features in addition to the size and the 50,000:1 contrast ratio the quality is stunning bringing a whole new world to life in color and sound. The number of ports for input and output makes this television perfect for anything and any type of secondary device including blu-ray players and hi def game consoles like the Sony PS3. Access to the computer as well as preloaded content give a wide variety of programming options.
- “This is an excellent TV with bright crisp picture. So far no problem (own for a month). Amazon free delivery and set up service for the TV was excellent too.” – A.Patel (NC, USA)
- “I have had my LN52A750 for about three weeks now and it has really proven to be an amazing set so far. The colors and clarity are crazy good. My friends and family who have been over to watch the NCAA tournament or movies with us are blown away by how good the picture is. There are times that I’m still giddy while sitting on my couch and watching this set. This is my third Samsung television – my second LCD from them. Each one has been nothing short of great.” – Tom MC (Illinois,USA)
- “The picture quality on this set is fantastic! I’d had it for 5 months and would buy two more if I had the money. Deepest blacks of ANY set (LCD) I looked at. My son plays his PS3 (also used for Blu-ray) without any lag time in the games. I’ve never even attempted to adjust the picture. Right out of the box was near perfect. I may get a calibration DVD just to see if I can even get it better. Had a Superbowl party and EVERYONE raved about the set – even people with other HD sets.” – D.Jim (Texas,USA)
