Performance
The extra inch of screen offered by the Plasma +1 Design is definitely welcoming. The pictures give off vibrant colors and are exceptionally sharp. There are plenty of customizable picture settings to keep the videophile satisfied. The high refresh rate of 600Hz ensures that any hints of motion blur are eliminated in sports matches or fast-action movies. Compared to the standard 240Hz found in LED HDTVs, the experience of watching videos that require intense motion tracking technology is much better in Plasma HDTVs. Plasma technology has also come a long way since it was introduced.
This TV emits out a reasonable amount of heat and it’s not too extreme for the living room. The Blu-Ray video is displayed exceptionally well and there are definitely no problems with regular DVDs.
The 3D performance f the TV is great. You could feel the 3D objects popping up in your face but it does not strain the eyes very much from prolonged watching. The 3D glasses are comfortable to be worn and it does not feel too tight. The synchronization between the glasses and the screen is also good. You’ll definitely be able to get the most out of 3D sports channel such as ESPN 3D especially with the high refresh rate. The 2D to 3D conversion is does not always produce the best results but it may be very interesting to get a feel of the “3D version” of older movies.
One shortcoming with the TV’s audio is that its volume level changes too slowly from a quiet channel to a loud one. The TV audio is decent enough for most TV shows although you would not depend on it for blockbuster movies. Nevertheless, its overall quality is still much better than most of the other HDTVs on the market.
For gaming purposes, the PN51D7000 performed rather well too. There is little delay between the controller and the screen. The Game Mode that is present in the TV does help to some extent in enhancing the gaming experience. With the forecasted increase in more 3D gaming titles, this TV will ensure that you will always be able to experience the next technological level of gaming with ease.
Conclusion
The PN51D7000 is a fantastic addition to Samsung’s new line up in 2011. Its performance is top notch with its sharp images and vivid display. The 3D capability that it offers is also one of the better ones in the market. It has everything you had wished for in a 3D Plasma HDTV and it would certainly look aesthetically pleasant in your living room.
