The 5,000,000:1 Mega Dynamic Contrast Ratio helps to provide more image details. You will be able to discern between long dark hairs against dark outfits. Or fold and wrinkles between clothing. Textures are remarkable and objects pop out from the screen. The 1920 x 1080 screen also add to that effect. Images are sharp and provide plenty of dimension and separation between objects.

The UN40D6400 has Clear Motion 480 that is a proprietary standard for image quality. It measures refresh rate, backlight technology and image processor speed. To put it in perspective, this TV has a 120Hz refresh rate. The Samsung high-end TVs have a Clear Motion rate of 960.

This technology presents fast moving images without judder or ghosting. Especially if you love watching sports, the UN40D6400 will provide the ability to watch smooth images. The golf ball or the football will move across your screen smoothly. It does not look like it is skipping across.

The Samsung UN40D6400 has a special filter that absorbs ambient light. It also minimizes reflections so there is less distraction. There will also be less of trying to find the best angle as the sunlight moves into the room.

Although high end LED TVs are fitted with a 240Hz refresh rate. Unless you have a few TVs lined up against each other, you might be able to tell the difference. This is assuming you have all TVs properly calibrated and also at the right color temperature as well.

The Samsung UN40D6400 offers very good color and darks with precise tones. Picture quality is fantastic in 3D and 2D as well. Uniformity is something that some folks will have an issue with. This is a problem exclusive to Samsung. This is issue is common especially to EdgeLit LED TVs. The good part is that Samsung has made improvements since last year’s model.
