Samsung UN55C6300
TVs need to be larger than 50 inches in order to really appreciate the benefits that the 1080p resolution brings to the consumers. This is exactly why Samsung offers over 8 different products with costs ranging from $2,500 to $4,500. With all of these TVs boasting a plethora of features, consumers may really wonder if it is safe to go for the most affordable model which is currently the Samsung UN55C6300. One interesting thing to take note of is that the UN55C6300 is one of the newest additions to the Samsung Series 6 lineup. So it could be the very 55-inch TV that budget consumers are waiting for.

Samsung UN55C6300
Technical Features
Looking at the TV from afar doesn’t really bring many surprises. It has the Full HD 1080p resolution which is expected from a 55-inch model and the frontal design bears some similarities with some of the 2009 models still being sold today. However, the sides of the Samsung UN55C6300 show that the new model is even thinner than older 55″ models which should convince new owners to hang them on the wall. Furthermore, it takes only two screws to hang the TV rather than the usual nine screws required to hang average wall-mount TVs.
The contrast ratio is taking a step further bumping it up to 4,000,000:1 which is highly impressive for a budget 55-inch TV since other models like the UN55B6000 offer a 3,000,000:1 contrast ratio yet costs above $3,000. Known as the Mega Contrast, shades of black turn out to be purer while whites are significantly more pristine while the rest of the colors stay true, thanks to the other Samsung technologies built into the TV. Contrast is further increased, thanks to its Ultra Clear Panel design which aims towards reducing reflection.
Finally, the Samsung UN55C6300 is more environmental-friendly than ever with the addition of the Eco Sensor which automatically calibrates the brightness level based on the room’s lighting to save more energy.
“We have had this tv for 2 months and it just doesn’t seem like it could possibly be any better. The colors are so true and there is so much depth that it actually seems 3D at times. When you play a Blu Ray the colors pop even more and you really feel like you are part of the picture or scene. I have done a double take at times because it appears so life like! We love this tv and are so happy when we get a chance to relax and watch it (not often enough!). Wall hook up was a breeze and it has enough HDMI inputs to make it even easier. I wouldn’t recommend the Samsung Blu Ray player though if you are running everything thru a receiver. Samsung’s “Any net” gets confused about what you are trying to do. Or at least the Universal remote doesn’t recognize that the tv is in control of the Blu Ray player. (Or maybe it’s me who gets confused on what it is trying to do!) Anyway, I can’t imagine any other tv delivering a better picture than this one. You will enjoy it immensely! – Island Girl (Seattle, USA)
Technologies
Because the Samsung UN55C6300 falls at the end of the back when it comes to the pricing, not many technologies and extras make it to the TV. This is not really that bad because the one main technology that happens to be implemented should benefit a good majority of people that really wanted a 55-inch TV that can actually perform well.
The Auto Motion Plus 120 Hz technology works by eliminating blur instances produced when intensive animations occur. It works by extending the action frames after they are carefully analyzed, resulting to crisper special effects in many popular high-definition titles. This technology may be familiar to some people as it has been previously implemented by mid-range and high-end models. With the Blu-ray standard now stronger than ever, this technology should be more significant and it finally gets implemented in an affordable 55-inch TV. Combined with the Mega Contrast Ratio and Ultra Clear Panel, movies, video games, and ordinary HD shows should look great.
Extra Features
Unsurprisingly, the Samsung UN55C6300 does not feature any form of online connectivity features which are usually reserved for the higher-end models. However, the UN55C6300 can wirelessly interact with other devices much better than other models that only featured good HDMI integration. With the new AllShare feature, the Samsung UN55C6300 can now become part of the wireless network where photos, music, and videos can be transferred to and from the PC or any other mobile device that has wireless capabilities. This may sound like an old technology, but All Share towers over existing technologies by allowing multiple connections to be established. This means that multiple PCs along with other devices can all connect to the TV at the same time.
Bottom Line
The Samsung UN55C6300 LED TV isn’t really a groundbreaking product on its own, but what makes this HDTV a winner is the great combination of both advanced and basic features while somehow managing to stay below the $3,000 price tag. On top of that, there are a few new additions that are currently present in other 2010 models so people can finally purchase an affordable TV without really missing out on good features found in higher-end TVs. The wireless features is a major step forward and the image and sound quality are decent as expected with all Samsung models.
Actual User Reviews:
• “Just had this 55″ unit installed in my game room yesterday along with the 46″ for my family room. I replaced a 61″ Samsung DLP that we had for a few years. My first impression is the colors just pop off the set. Wonderful contrast and true to life. Also the price is amazing. I have the TV in a room that has 3 tall windows and a set of french doors…the game room is on the west side of the house and gets full sun in the afternoon. The shutters help block the light, but the colors are so real and live in this set that it overpowers any reflection or outside light. You cannot go wrong with the UN55C6300.” – J.Hebert (TX,USA)
• “The TV is simply awesome. The contrast ratio is amazing. Shortly after installing this TV, I helped setup a similar Samsung non-LED model (LN46C630). The difference in contrast ratio was very noticeable to my now trained eye.
I used the Samsung WMN1000B kit to mount it on the wall and it was simple to follow the instructions to mount it. The quality of the parts in the kit was top-notch including everything that was needed except for the 1/2″ drill bit that I had to purchase to drill through the wallboard and metal stud. It is so slim to the wall that a neighboring framed painting actually sticks out more from the wall than this TV!
I have noticed that a full dark gray picture (ie: black but not quite a complete black, as in the brief flash between a program and the 1st or last ad) exposes the only flaw I have seen. When this occurs, you see a splotchy picture from uneven backlighting. I believe that this is called flashlighting. This is hardly a negative because I could care less what the picture looks like at that point. If the TV detects pure black, it looks like the LED backlighting is actually turned off and appears black. ” – DH (MA,USA)
• “The picture is great. Makes you feel like you are on set while it’s being filmed. Very happy with the size and picture. I was a little worried about spending this much money on line, but between the reviews and my experience with Amazon I purchased online. Saved several hundred dollars and I’m happy I did.” – J.Benson (USA)
