The LC46D85U uses a 10-Bit ASV LCD Panel from Sharp’s state-of-the-art Kameyama factory and active color contrast for a more lifelike picture and deeper black albeit with a slight bluish tint in dark areas. In brighter scenes the LC46D85U looked accurate and skin tones natural with smooth gradations.

The LC-46D85U also features built-in ATSC/QAM/NTSC tuners and includes a rather generous 5 HDMI inputs and 2 component video inputs with 1080p compatibility. Also included are 2 composite-video and an S-video input for standard definition audio and video. Via HDMI the LC46D85U performed well delivering every line of a 1,920×1,080 source with great-looking images.
