Actual user review:
“I just received my TV today. All I can say is: OH MY GOD! The picture is gorgeous. The sound is incredible. Setup was a breeze. I’ve read reviews that state there were screen problems, especially with rain or fog. I don’t see it. No artifacts, no blurring, nothing. I think as long as it is setup correctly, the problems don’t occur. There are a lot of settings, but the menus are clean and easy to understand. The picture is awesome with my Oppo up-scaling DVD player. A nice touch: because of the multitude of connectors on the TV (and the compactness of HDMI’s combined audio/video cables) I was able to get rid of a huge rat’s nest of cables (coaxial, composite, S-video, and various combiner/splitters)” – D.Xenos, USA

10-bit processor/10-bit panel

10 bit color depth
The XBR7  combines a 10-bit processor and 10-bit panel to create and display billions of colors. Using both a 10-bit processor and 10-bit panel allows for 64 times the level of color expression in 8-bit panels, resulting in smoother color transitions and helping to avoid giving the picture a “paint-by-numbers” look.

It is also equipped with a judder video processing that works with exacting precision and it can be turned off and on to suit TV viewing preferences.  Viewers also have control over color correction and adjustments and TV volume.

Connectivity

More than adequate inputs are provided for a variety of uses. First off there are 4 HDMI inputs, 2 component video inputs and a 15 pin PC input connector that allows you to connect your PC (up to 1920×1080p resolution) and use the KDL52XBR7 as a computer monitor.

The Digital Media Port connection allows the use of an optional cradle to connect digital devices directly to the XBR7 so you can enjoy photos, videos, or music stored on your Sony Walkman player or other digital devices such as iPods, laptops and mobile phones.

Connected to a desktop PC, the XBR7 performed admirably as a PC monitor with excellent text quality.

Conclusion

The Sony KDL-52XBR7’s  relatively high price should not deter anyone from getting this excellent and sleek Sony HDTV. It serves as a true multimedia display equally adapt for movies, games, internet surfing and as a PC monitor. The stunning cinematic pictures, smooth and sharp playback, and connectivity are power features worth the pricey tag. With prices going down by the day the KDL-52XBR7 is definitely one TV worth checking out.

  • “We did our research before we bought this TV. This one is quite comparable to the XBR6 except the higher refresh rate, more speakers and etc. We were originally planning to get XBR6. But when we saw the XBR7 was selling at the same price as XRB6 on Amazon, we made our purchase. The picture quality is excellent. The only ones we saw that had better picture quality is the Samsungs. However, their 2008 line-up all had very reflective screen. Our living room has 2 huge windows and a lot of sun light. So, we decided not to go with Samsung. The TV is thin and easy to setup. Amazon is the best! Super fast delivery (the TV was delivered and installed 4 days ahead of time!).” – W.Kitty, USA
  • “I bought the XBR7 after 5 months of study and research. I am very pleased with my decision. The picture on the set is beautiful, far exceeding the other Hi-def TVs that I own. Set up was as easy as others have described. The sound quality is excellent. I have seen no negative performance issues, including slo-motion of hi-def football games I had on my DVR. My only comment to my wife was that I bet the actresses really hated Sony and Hi-def, because they don’t look nearly so good now that you can really see them, LOL. I could not really tell as much on my other Hi-def TVs. This Sony is clearly worth the money. There may be better sets out there, I am not an expert. But I am very careful at spending money, and I definitely feel like the XBR7 from Amazon is a great value.” – J.Hopper, LA, USA
